Introducing Marion Simms – Owner & Aesthetician of Skin Sense
Born and trained in the UK, I have been part of the skin care industry for over four decades. After receiving the CIDESCO, ITEC and CBTC certifications, I worked in many different capacities including aesthetician, lecturer, consultant and writer, and travelled throughout Europe and South Africa before coming to United States as a technical director.
I opened SkinSense Wellness in 1984 and in 1988 co-founded Skin Inc, a trade magazine published by Allured Publishing, which remains a leading resource for hands-on education for beauty professionals today.
Additionally, I have lectured at the London College of Beauty Therapy and East Surrey College in Redhill, England.
I believe that effective skincare should be accessible to everyone. My expertise lies in creating customized facials tailored to each client’s unique needs, utilizing a blend of electrotherapy and carefully selected products. I address a wide range of skin concerns, from teenage acne and extreme sensitivity to aging skin.
I attribute my strong work ethic to my family, who instilled in me the values of exceptional service and attentive listening. Over the decades, I have witnessed significant changes in the beauty industry. Technology has allowed us a deeper understanding of skin anatomy and physiology and today’s products feature more compatible ingredients that harmonize with the skin’s chemistry, moving away from the aggressive methods of over-exfoliation and harsh chemicals used in the past.
However, the multibillion-dollar skincare market can often be confusing and rife with misinformation. To combat this, I am committed to continuous learning and regularly attend classes on the most effective protocols. My studies in cosmetic chemistry keep me informed about what truly works—and what doesn’t—enabling me to provide my clients with the best advice, guidance and results.
